Great Mini Vacation

Thu Sep 4, 2003, 5:23 PM
Well we went to the mountains in West (by God) Virginia. The leaves haven't changed yet, but we plan to go back after they do. It was SO PRETTY!! Talk about almost heaven it really is. :floating: The trees are a gold green right now and really pretty. We went up to Snowshoe because our family reunion :community: will be there next year and we wanted to check it out---couldn't see a thing! :eyes: It was rainy and to me it looked like a cloud got hung up on the mountain. We went to another mountain in the National Forest. There was a 63ft waterfall there. :eyepopping: I took some photos of it and more. I nearly killed myself getting there and back. :fear: It's 3/4 mile one way and a half mile of that 3/4 is all steps!! Then it rained. So being a good photographer, equipment comes first. :camera: I wrapped it in my shirttail and my belly hung out. :giggle: Didn't care: in the pouring rain on the side of a mountain is not a beauty contest. :euphoria: My pictures will be back Sunday and I plan to scan and post. :gallery: I didn't take the digital. Good thing!! It would have been to heavy to manage.

Wow you have very nice photos o.o What kind of a camera do you use? (Hasn't viewed them fully x3)

The Wolf is not fit for city life, but out in the wilderness, it is your Guardian, your Blanket, your Hunter, your Loyal Companion for life. If you treat it well, it will return the favor.

Hi Susan!
Cheers for your kind comment on "Storm out on the Water"!
Yeah, oceans are always a huge source of inspiration! The photo was taken in the eastern part of Germany at the ocean during my summer holidays. But no matter what body of ocean you visit, it always has something spiritual. Thanks a lot for checking the photo out...have a great day!

I have to admit that I haven't seen much of his work, but it definitely makes me feel better to know that he didn't care much about 'interesting' skies. Anyway, thanks a lot for the comment!

Thought I'd come by and see what's new. I'm at school right now, and the connection is pretty craptastic. Hey, I'm a chef not a computer whiz! :blahblah:
Anyway, I got to see a couple of your pics, I'll look at the rest later.
Gotta get some research done for my paper. It's due Monday, and I have class in about an hour. Talk to you soon!

I should start reading the trilogy again, I totally adore it :) The movies are pretty good too, just today I was thinking that's it now only 4 months until we get to see Return of the King, I'm so curious! I don't have the dvd of the Two Towers yet, we're waiting for the 4 dvd set to come out in November..I'm dying to see that movie again, even though I was a bit disappointed in it, but the battle at Helm's Deep was absolutely fabulous.

Heh, I'm a bit of a geek when it comes to Tolkien, I guess :) Oh and thanks a lot for your comment on my latest photos, your words mean a lot to me

Thanks a lot for the lovely comment! It's funny you mentioned Cadfael, I never read the books, but it was made into a tv series and I used to watch it quite often.
:iconphotobabe:
Hi, I didn't know Cadfael was international. I've read most of the books twice and some three times. Haven't lately because I'm reading the Lord of The Rings Trilogy again. Can't wait for the last one, Return of the King. There are previews of it on the Two Towers DVD and it looks stupendous!! You do such lovely work. I just wanted to drop you a note.

I wish to thank you for all the wonderful comments on my work.

"peace through superior firepower" was not so much a prophetic piece as a peice inspired by the knowlege of who was going in and what they were going to do. A lot of senior Sgt's of today were privates who served under me when I was a Sgt.

Yes I spoil my grandsons as much as I can.

As for "Trinkets", I have nothing but respect for all who served in combat zones or outside of combat zones.
